Privacy Policy

Last updated · Reviewed by Priya Deshmukh, Player Protection Researcher

This site collects the minimum data required to operate. It does not track visitors across the web, run behavioural advertising, or share reader data with third parties for commercial purposes. This page explains what we do collect, why, and what your rights are.

Data we do not collect

Data we do collect

Web server logs

Our hosting provider retains standard web-server access logs for security and diagnostic purposes. These contain your IP address (truncated after 24 hours), the pages you requested, the referring URL if any, your user-agent string, and the timestamp of the request. Logs are retained for a maximum of 30 days and are not linked to any other identifier we hold.

Contact emails

If you email the editorial address, we retain the email content and your email address in order to respond and to keep a record of significant reader correspondence. We do not add contact emails to any mailing list. If you would like your email correspondence deleted, ask and we will delete it.

Cookies

We set a single cookie, cb_dismissed, to remember that you have dismissed the cookie notice at the bottom of the page. This is a functional cookie, expires after 12 months, and contains no identifier. See our cookie policy for the full detail.

Legal basis

Under UK GDPR, our legal basis for the minimal processing described above is legitimate interest (site operation, security, correspondence). Given that we collect no personal data for marketing or profiling, no explicit consent is required for our normal operation, and no additional processing takes place if you do not interact with the site beyond reading pages.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to be informed about what data we hold (which is what this page explains), to request access to any personal data we hold about you, to request deletion, and to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office if you believe we have mishandled data. To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

External links

The site links to third-party resources (regulators, support charities, licensing bodies). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. Follow those links deliberately and read the destination's own privacy policy if you interact with them.

Changes to this policy

If our practices change, we will update this page and the review date at the top. Material changes will be announced on the homepage. The current policy is version 1.0, last reviewed on the date shown above.

Data controller

The editorial team of Beyond GamStop Compass is the data controller for the minimal data described above. For any data-protection questions or complaints, write to [email protected].
